Yeah, UE3 looks a hell of a lot better, I'd say.

Stalker's trees look like ass compared to UE's. The parallax mapping is used to simulate bark on the trees, stalker doesn't even come close.

Maybe you think the Stalker trees look better because everything else in that game looks like poo... while U3 everything looks sweet .

Indeed Speedtree Are a way superior to Stalker trees or any othe tree system integrated in any of the top Engines today by far. SOme other engines even doesnt support anything close to Enviroment tools in the engine at all.Speed-tree engine support dynamic Vegetation that can move interactively flow with the wind .This only show how more Advanced UNreal ENgine3 is. ITs simply too advanced for its time. It make looks other supposely "powerfull engines" very obsolete already. CAn't wait to see the really amazing Outdoors enviroments we are going to see with the Unreal3 engines games.. .

Stalker however skies looks prettier.. its pretty cool how it looks .lets see what new features Epic add in the engine when they finish their game. because TIm sweeney is upgrading the U3 engine more and more every time like if there were no tomorrow..

And WHo cares?
THe Game graphics is not going to change because it was not done by its main programmer.

THis is not about which coder have spend more time with their engine. I have heard of developers that do it EVERYTHING in their engine from AI- to Graphics -to Level Design - to character modeling and voice acting in game engines that arent as popular as many others.

What matters here is the end product , the complete package ,the game/engine that the MOd comunnity will be able to use and play to create amazing games in the future. It is not relevant ,if the engine features where done just by 1 coder or by hundreds of programmers those are just minor details that doesnt change anything when it comes to the gaming experience.

I was just correcting your statement.

I don't find this next generation Unreal tech too exciting.

On the game topic..

Those graphics scream for a Tribes 4 game .

THis game is going to be a really BIG one..Indeed i think every other Game developers will have big problems selling their engines with so amazing stuff here.. in just one game.. look that detailed tree..the beautifull grass, it looks like a CG movie.. Where i can pre-order the game?? ..

To be honest, this whole UE3 thing is kinda scary. Because really, with graphics like those, there isn't much more that can be done. Oh sure, a few rough edges will be smoothed out and more features will be added to it, but as far as 3d rendering there isn't much more you'd need, aside from radiosity (which will hopefully be faked...using the method I came up with if nothing else!). UE3 may represent the final chapter in real-time 3d graphic engines, since there's very little room for improvement past it (though there will of course be competing engines).

There's plenty of stuff to be done after it! Until games look like you're playing a movie, they'll never be finished.

And what is radiosity?
