I have purchased a new Dell Precision M70 laptop which has a 15.4" wuxga LCD display and a NVIDIA Quadro FX Go1400 video card. I have installed RedHat Linux ES version 4 and have downloaded and installed the latest nvidia drivers (1.0-7167). I am now configuring this to run at 1920x1200.
With the help of someone on these forums I have managed to get this to work, but the log file contains the following warnings: (WW) NVIDIA(0): config file hsync range 30-95kHz not within DDC hsync ranges. (WW) NVIDIA(0): config file vrefresh range 60-75Hz not within DDC vrefresh ranges. This worries me, I don't want to burn up my monitor. The default install of RedHat came up with these numbers: HorizSync 31.50 - 37.90 kHz VertRefresh 50.00 - 70.00 Hz But I could not get the display to work at 1920x1200 using these numbers, and I don't know how reliable they are anyhow. Unfortunately Dell will not provide me with the horizontal sync or vertical refresh rates - they only support windows on that machine and apparently you don't need those numbers for that os. So, how can I determine what HorizSync and VertRefresh rates are supported by the monitor, and what modeline to use for the 1920x1200 resolution using those rates? I'm new to all this video configuration stuff, so forgive me if this is all obvious. Thanks for any help. Grainne. |

Thanks, I tried your settings and at least the VertRefresh is now within range and the display still works at 1920x1200. However again I get the warning about the the HorizSync rate:
(WW) NVIDIA(0): config file hsync range 31.5-90kHz not within DDC hsync ranges. I've attached my xorg.conf and corresponding log file in case they provide any clues.... |

I too went ahead an fixed mine up (I think I gave you your original values). Much closer to spec now... but I also don't have it perfect yet. Thanks for the update.
