If cost were no object, then go get one of the new Wildcatz GPU's for workstations with 24 pipelines and 512 bit memory interface.
thats a multi chip sollution and each chip has 12 pipes with 256 bit bus that is in some sort of interleave mode.

Play games with that one and then tell me your experience. That card is for apps like MAYA, SPecviewperf and the like, not for gaming.

I'm sure 0,11 is maturing, so it might be possible to manufacture on that tecnology with low-k.

Prohibative cost? Kinda of like those endangered species ATI cards right? They've finally started coming out in quanity...right when the next generation is about to be annouced. Little Billy's gonna be pissed when he hears about the R520.

When Nvidia or ATI comes out with a dual solution on one chip that is under 550 dollars; they will be the performance champion. If cost were no object, then go get one of the new Wildcatz GPU's for workstations with 24 pipelines and 512 bit memory interface.
AHAHAHAHAHAAHAHAHAH. That is all.

Thus, competition is good for us the consumer.
That's what everyone says. All I see is rising video card prices, put out a card with an extra 20mhz on the core and raise the price by another $50. I thought competition was supposed to drive down prices, not skyrocket them from 300 to 550 in two generations. So yes, next time you wish to parrot something make sure it's relevant.

Nvidia or ATI could give a rat's ass about you. They want your dinero. Enjoy the best card out there, regardless of manufacturer.
Who said I cared about Nvidia or ATI? I said I got preverse pleasure from watching Nvidia pummel ATI. Did it ever occur to you that maybe I just enjoyed surfing Rage3D on the eve of the GT's launch. Mass chaos can be quite entertaining as long as you're not at ground level.

That was a good read. Thanks. Alot of speculation, but at least it was properly labeled.

the flow control thinging mentioned in the article, wonder exactly what it does, and how it improves SM3.0 performance. I thought the GF6 performed pretty damn good with SM3.0, only a bit slower with HDR.

NVIDIA will launch the G70 sometime in May. The chip is going to have a maximum of 24 pipelines or 6 quads, using 110nm process and will have around 300 million transistors(less than that of the R520). WGF 1.0 support is still uncertain. G70 will be native PCIe, SLI support of course, AGP version is also expected. Core speed will be increase from that of the 6800U to around 450 to 500MHz, while memory clock will be in the region of 1.4GHz. The initial cards will have 256MB GDDR-3 memory and 256bit memory bus. The performance will be similar to 6800GT in SLI setup. The card will also use dual slot cooling. It will be priced above that of the 6800U but cheaper than the 6800U 512MB(849 USD). However the price of the 6800U 512MB is going to have a significant drop when G70 is available. About the mysterious G80 or NV50, nothing else is clear at the moment except it's on 90nm process.

If this holds true then ati will be in the game to
with the 520 being a 24 pipe card. Or that's what
they want to release it as this go around.
We will see 32 pipes at christmas I think.

I guess this old AGP 6800GT is going to
have to do me for a while yet.
But my next will be SLI.
