If cost were no object, then go get one of the new Wildcatz GPU's for workstations with 24 pipelines and 512 bit memory interface. Remember, if Nvidia were the only game in town, would the 6800 series even exist. Conversely, would ATI ever have gone from 8 pipelines to 16 pipelines if it wasn't for Nvidia. Thus, competition is good for us the consumer. Nvidia or ATI could give a rat's ass about you. They want your dinero. Enjoy the best card out there, regardless of manufacturer.
You can get X850XT PE now (and I hear it is not an easy thing to get), or get SLI board and one 6800 Ultra (or GT) card. If you get ATI you will s.u.c.k. later and if you get nVidia you will just add another card when your fps falls below acceptable limit in latest and greatest games. So nVidia has a solution even for most demanding situations while ATI doesn't.

You are also forgetting something very important. Once ATI comes out with it's own dual solution, it will be time for driver fixing. ATI drivers are the greatest pile of sh.t and it will take ages to make that dual thing work in games. On the other hand, nVidia has already worked out the worst part as far as SLI is concerned. They have huge advantage when it comes to drivers, we must not overlook that.

I do not understand that part about ATI having the option of selling cheaper cards? Why would they sell cheaper if they only want our money?

And yes, we are enjoying NV4x cards a lot because they are the best at the moment in all segments from high-end to low-end. I had ATI card and I was plagued with driver bugs. What a nightmare was playing KoTOR on ATI...

Finally, if I had to chose between ATI and nVidia card and both cards offer the same performance for the same price I would get nVidia just because of normal drivers and proper OpenGL support.

ACtually Nvidia is stealing the show of ATI ,thanks to SLI and all other of the next generation hardware extras ,that we already know. look at the news the sold 750k sli motherboards ..for nothing.Wilcatz Gpus dont play Dx9 games, thats for professional graphics .nothing more.. Nvidia simply have the performance crown today, there is no question about this. An SLI setup should be able to compete at the levels of an R520.. it will be dissapointing if still ATI is unable to defeat nvidia today generation SLI cards with their future brand new 32pipes generation. That SLI cost a lot ,its irrelevant here.. you pay for what you get. if you want to compete in the price/performance/features contest then there it wins the Geforce 6600gt or those 6800Gt that can overcloked to ultras ,and can be found for $350 or less online.

Question Re: G70 & G80 Specs to come! Help need more Info...

2nd gen Turbo Cache technology? 2nd gen Turbo Cache technology... 32x PCI-E ?

http://www.nvnews.net/vbulletin/showthread.php?t=49655

What is this guy talking about? Right now PCI-E is 16x and in SLI mode its only 8x - 8x and if the next gen is 32x PCI-E it would be 16x - 16x PCI-E in SLI mode.

This is the news I am looking forward... G70 will use single slot cooling design.

Ok. This is it. I was thinking of getting a Leadtek 6800 Ultra PCIe now. But nope. Now I'm leaning towards a 6600(GT). I'll get a 6600(GT) and wait for G70 no matter how long it takes for G70s to arrive on store shelves.
