Default Where did all the Half Life Source remakes go?

When Half Life Source was released, a bunch of modders and artists said they would like to do a better remake of the original game, than the Valve offering. Some wanted to simply make high res textures, others wanted to do some kind of full conversion. Since I never played the original Half Life, I've been hoping the high res textures would get done over the next year or so, so that I can play it for the first time and enjoy it more than the blury dated mess (with nice water) it looks like right now. Problem is, the two web sites I was tracking have both gone off line. Does anyone know what is going on with any of these mods?

The original is the best version there is. I have completed Half Life source and to be fair there are differences in the 2. I suspect if Half Life source managed to mess it up, then theres no hope for full conversions.

Just play the old original (and best)

The main current one is Black Mesa Source, their webpage just got back online at http://www.blackmesasource.com/

And Slyder, the only reason HL:S sucked is because Valve was increadibly lazy. Apperently they only put a little more effort into the Half-life Source port than they did into the anti-cheat technology of CS:S...

If you are looking for the best "official" version of Half-Life, I think it was Half-Life with the Blue Shift High Definition Pack.

Lots of details in the model textures.

There are ways to get it to work properly with the Steam (not Source) version of Half-Life also.

If you are interested in that sort of thing, search the Steampowered.com support section and they have a process that works.

I know there must be a way to mod HL source to use the high def models on my blue-shift disc. If anyone has any thoughts, please...email me.

I asked that same (or nearly same) question on Steampowered.com pretty much the same week Half-Life:Source was made available for download via Steam.

It's been several months now and I don't think it's possible, or difficult. I'm not a coder or modder or anything, so for me it would be impossible.

They dont get paid to be lazy... and I personally would not buy a game when some of my hard earned go'es to them for being lazy. They should of put the same amount of effort in as they did for HL2.

As much as I loved the game itself, I wouldn't have given Valve one damn red cent for thier crappy distrabution scheme (Steam). If I hadn't gotten HL2 free with a coupon with my old 9800XT, I wouldn't own it right now. Valve is so screwed up I have no interest in giving them any money, ever. Now, if they were to fire all the managers and restaff with people who actually CARED about thier players, my attitude might change.

This is not a thread about disliking Steam.

This thread is about Half-Life:Source remakes.

I wish I were a coder/modeler/mapper or something.

That Steam is a crappy business model to force upon customers.

Gentle, are you a moderator??? If not, STFU dude. My opinion is just as important as yours is and every bit as valid to this thread since I was responding to SOMEBODY other then YOU. You have no right to tell others what to do or not, If you don't like my post, report it to a moderator, don't take it upon yourself to be the "Internet web police" as said by saturnotaku.

And back to the subject at hand, STEAM and valve's policies are what ruined my interest in searching for mods for HL2 was my whole point. I did like the game itself tho.
