I cannot get NR 2003 to run in Vista. Anybody have any luck? Not only does AA not work - the game gets completely kicked back to the desktop as soon as the "Race" icon is clicked.
I turned DEP off - but it didn't matter.

I guess we're going to be dual booting Vista and XP for a while.

Yeah - I finally got DEP to shut up - but the game is mugly as AA is not working. In fact - the latest official nVidia drivers won't even allow me to create and save a profile for NR 2003. I can make it - but as soon as I leave the CP - it disappears from the list.

That usually happens to me when I'm trying to create a profile for a game that already has one. In the 97.92s, there's a profile for NASCAR 2003 so is it possible, that's your problem also?

Naw - with the latest set of official (WHQL) drivers from the nVidia site - there aren't nearly as many profiles included. But when I try to make a new one - it just doesn't stick.

I even tried nHancer and made the new profile there with my AA/AF settings. It still doesn't make any difference.
Me thinks it is either a driver deal or a Directx 10 issue.....or both. Every other drive (DX 9) has worked great for NASCAR 2003.

A small note on nascar 2003:
It FINALLY runs good with everything maxed now that we have 8800s. With all of the shadow options turned on and lots of cars the game ran like crap even on a 7900GTX and an x2 4200+. Its consistently smooth now though. And this is a dumb question, but did you try compatibility mode? I've noticed quite a few things are fixed by enabling compatibility mode in Vista. They have definitely done some great improvements there. For example, Quake 3 had a stutter problem unless you changed the affinity to one core, but 9x compatibility mode in Vista fixes it just fine. ![]()

Cap'n,
The Vista 100.51 drivers work much better....at least with this game. AA/AF looks good and frame rate still decent. I am trying Vista out on my secondary rig (FX-57 & 7800GTX) to get a feel for things. You are right - with my main rig (6800 & 8800GTX-SLI) - the game looks and runs better than ever........I am still running XP on that machine.

You should run Vista on your primary. It makes dual booting very easy as it detects your current Windows installs and throws them all into a boot loader. It's also easy to add to Grub if you're a Linux guy as well. I'll be triple booting Ubuntu, XP, and Vista for a long while.

Boot loader? You mean the choice screen on boot up or something else?
