Possible solution for driver install problems.
I have gone through 7 different distros to try to see if the drivers would work. Not one would build the nvidia.ko module. (Suse 9.2, MDK 10.1, MDK 10.2rc1, MDK 10.2rc2, Ubuntu, Fedora Core 2, Fedora Core 3). I was pulling my hair out. I read the installer log, and it gave me a lot of missing symlks, so I found this, which was actually for nforce drivers, but at this point I was like "Couldn't hurt."
ln -s linux-2.6.8-24.13 (Was already there, but can't hurt)
make prepare-all (only for kernel-source >= 2.6.5-7.75)
cd to folder with driver
run sh NV*.run comand with --kernel-source-path=<path to your kernel source>.
That didn't actyally fix the whole thing, but it fixed enough to tell me that in the BIOS, the computer was set up for PnP OS=yes and Assign IRQ to VGA=no. (Computer formerly had Windows), So, went into BIOS and reset those values, back into terminal (I ended up installing manually) and VOILA!
Everything is good. Still getting kind of low framerates (card is only a Geforce 2 MX 200), but at least it is working.
Hope this helps.
So far, this works on Suse 9.2 and MDK 10.1. I couldn't get it to work on MDK 10.2rc2, but that doesn't surprise me.
