Default NV Firewall under Linux

Will be the NV Firewall under linux ever usable?

I am also interested in this and posted the same question on the gentoo forum - with the same outcome : No replies. It seems linux users prefer to stick with the linux firewall.

Yet, I wonder if all that would be needed is a graphical interface to the nVidia firewall...

IMHO, there is really no need for anything but iptables already available. It's far more powerfull than the NV firewall could ever be. If you need a gui for that there are numerous available already.

I second the above.
While iptables doesn't have hardware acceleration (unlike the nvidia FW) a current generation CPU should be able to handle 1Gbps TCP/UPD/IP traffic with fairly unnoticeable CPU overhead.
Plus, I doubt that nVidia's FW is fully hardware based. (Rudimentary hardware TCP/UDP stack, etc) I assume that nVidia hardware just gives limited acceleration functions.

First nVidia must give out either the specs of the hardware (which I guess are patented and will not be released) to make an opensource driver/module or give a binary driver just the same way they did with the graphics card.
