Default nForce4 SATA NCQ support?

Hello,

Does anybody know if NCQ on the SATA controller of a AMD64 board is supported under Linux with NCQ SATA drives?

Thanks,

feizhou

AFAIK libata hasn't NCQ/TCQ support enabled.

* Even when the SATA core is updated to support NCQ, nForce will not
support it under Linux. No hardware info.

It seems to be nvidia's big secret ;-)

libata does for the Intel AHCI SATA controller (Intel ICH[67]).

The only one at that. Heard that SIS and VIA are implementions are on the way.

If I read the driver page right, Nvidia does not provide Linux SATA drivers then?

They only provide audio and network drivers?

Oops, you're right. There is hardware support but libata does not use it yet. Anybody know whether Nvidia support NCQ in their drivers then?

Anyone know what the possibility of having NCQ w/ SATA 2 on the nforce4 ultra is now? According to the libata status (http://linux-ata.org/sata-status.html), information has been released from nVidia. The page makes no reference of a timeline or if support will be enabled in the future.

Does anyone have any more information on this? The posts here are a year old, so was hoping there was more news.

Thanks,
Andrew

Depth 0/32 on NCQ means that the drive supports it but the host (the controller) doesn't.

When NCQ is active, you will see depth 31/32 there.
