Default Not showing screen resolutions

I have a problem. My onboard video will only support 800x600 and 640x480. After I install the driver, these are still the only two options. I know I have gotten this to work before by copying the kernel modules somewhere or something but I can't remember where to put them to make this work. These two resolutions are still my only choices and it's bugging me.

edit: I edited my xorg.conf file like the directions said too.

Default Re: Not showing screen resolutions

If you try for better resolutions and X denies it, it could well say why in your X log (/var/log/).
