LINUX 2.4.20 SIS648 GF4200 -> doesn't work
Hi,
I'm trying to activate SIS648 AGP8X with a GF4200Ti graphics card. Because with Linux 2.4.18 it doesn't work I tried 2.4.20 but this will not work also. My system SIS648 AGP Suse Linux 8.0 Linux Kernel 2.4.20 GF4 Ti4200 128MB Without AGP (Option: "NvAGP" "0") it works... with AGP the screen freezes, with or without kernel AGP. (using NV AGP support instead). Has someone the same problem? andreas |

If you are using 1.0.3123 then use AGPGART with the following lines in your /etc/modules.conf file.
alias char-major-175 agpgart options agpgart agp_try_unsupported=1 NvAGP option should be 2 in the XF86Config file. this worked fine for me using a GForce MX 440 8X card on the SiS648 chipset using a P4S8X mobo. Didn't get 8X though, only got 4X. If you use 1.0.4194 then it works fine and even shows you the AGP3 rates (again no 8X with this chip :-() but there are a few render issues in 2D that make startup REALLY slow.
