OS: Gentoo Linux 2005.0
Kernel: Gentoo 2.6.11-r5 X: Xorg-X Protocol Version 11, Revision 0, Release 6.8.2 nVidia: 1.0-7174 Monitor: Dell P1230 CRT Problem: On loading/using the nVidia driver my chosen resolution of 1280x960 (using ModeLine generated by Kolas) fails, leaving me with a "scrolling" screen. The key error seems to be: (WW) NVIDIA(0): Not using mode "1280x960": (WW) NVIDIA(0): horizontal sync width (1960 - 1312 = 648) greater than 512 _However_, when I tried several other ModeLine settings (by Kolas and others) where the difference was 512 or less, I get a different problem in that the screen simply "blacks" and nothing is visible. This does not happen when I use the Xorg distributed "nv" driver. I'm attaching the nvidia-bug-report.log file (as a .txt extension) for your perusal and would be interested in any commentary on what I might have set incorrectly, or what additional settings might be needed to get the nvidia driver working. Thanks! |
