I still get these strange textures when I select "ultra quality"

I have to uncheck "precision hint fastest" and "short temporaries" if I want to have normal textures and play with offset mapping.

I think there was some idea that the game should run well, and look pretty much the same from low to high end, or some such thing..
Still, with the strong emphasis on graphics and the money alot of people spend on keeping their rigs updated, it would prolly be a good idea..

remember Carmack also wanted to take out ragdoll and most of the physics stuff cause he didnt feel people would appriciate such gimmicks.. hehe
Maybe he has lost contact with the comon gamer over the years or something..

maybe you can use the santa's bloom mehtord in next 3mood version. it looks very cool and efficiency

Hey there !


I really like your tweaking tool tertsi and thought about that offset-/Virtual Displacement-/ Parallax- or whatever it will ever get called -mapping.

I recently found a tool for converting Normalmaps into Displacement-/Heightmaps.

So you may find it useful, because I read about "height map offset" in your tool and using the heightmap for offsetmapping (If I understand that right) should give different results than using recalculated Normalmaps (at the moment).

But anyway, here's the Link:

hey tertsi,here is the link to santa's bloom mod, http://www.doom3world.org/phpbb2/vie...9b3465aebb933d it looks way better than bjl667's glow mod,and much efficiency as well.Too bad it only works with D31.1, which means that it doesnt work with ROE,maybe you can use the same method in your next 3mood ver,that would rocks

Too bad this bloom mod doesn't work with 1.2 version of doom3.
What is your 3mood configuration please?
