Microsoft just don't know cool, there are tonnes of awesome photoshop artists type dudes out there, on deviantart and such like, who could come up with far better. Without the ten strong marketing team and huge budget as well.

I don't understand what the name is supposed to connote. It makes no sense at all. Oh well, makes no difference to me, I'm not interested in it anyway. Bring on the PS3!

Whats wrong with "Xbox 2" or "Xbox II"..
why do they always have to overcomplicate things these days..
It would have been simple, understandable, logical, less confusing for new consumers and less silly..

I think the name XBox 360 is strickly to counter Sony if the next Playstation is called PS3 or Playstation 3. As dumb as it sounds many would probably look at X-Box 2 as being inferior to Playstation 3 weather true or not. With "3" and "60" at the end to boot in the name it will make them seem as if there on the same footing or even better than another another console with "3" in its name.

It's all about marketing to make the XBox catch up in name if Sony keeps it's name scheme. If the next Playstation, 5 years from now has "4" in it's name MS then can release a system with 4 in its name and no one would think any different because the previous one had a "3" in its name. Marketing! Also with Xeon (sp?) name, I think MS was wise in not using it because it may have thrown the XBox brand off. Can you imagine some kids mom buying him a Xeon (sp) to surprise him when a well know brand like PS3 is right next to it?

To be honest the name 360 has grown on me, I am just hoping MS doesnt do a horrid design job like what they did for the first XBox. Substance over style but I would still like it to be nice to look at.

Hmm I think the name also has to do with its design. It was said to be sphere shaped or just round, hence the name "Xbox 360"

They could call it Xbox My Little Pony for all I care as long as there are games for it that I want to play. That's a reason to buy or not buy a console, not because you think the name is stupid.

Yeah but I am pretty sure they first sat up thinking how it would look in consumers eyes if they named there latest console XBox 2 while there main competitor has a console named Playstation 3 with specs about the same. It might seem odd but marketing studies have shown consumers look at simple things like that.

I don't get it? Why do ya'll even care what it is called? Just play the damn thing. I'm sure you want a window on it so you can see the l33t innards also. Maybe we could add some cold cathodes to it? I'm sure it would play better that way.

Just buy it or don't but crap quit crying about the FRIGIIN' NAME!
