Cool demo J.C. Dude! On 6800U (FW76.44) & P4 2.8 it runs ~140 fps.

Sorry I was away rewritting the Mesh loading routines and making it a little more robust.
Let's see what do we have here:

Wont run here with 76.41.. missing file msvcr71.dll

Hmmm some people report stuff like that in the past, try google searching the file. If you don't get it, let me know, I'll upload it somewhere on my host server.

Where are people supposed to be able to download these drivers for Nvidia that allow this demo to work?

Go to the forceware forum, here's a link http://www.nvnews.net/vbulletin/forumdisplay.php?f=26
I personally recommend the 76.44 set of driver as I find it very stable.

Note to Abba: as it was already mentioned. When I have in my settings Anisotropic filtering selected to app-contolled then your demo doesn run correctly.. maybe you should place a note about it ( or of course fix it )
Hmm I'm gonna have to take this question over to Nvidia engineers and see what they think about the issure.

..but still great work ..i didn't expect to run it on 5200 but it surprised me
Yeah the 5200-5950 path was the easiest to implement, I'll be tweaking it a bit further but don't expect any outrageously high FPS boost

Rolf, this is what happens when you dowload all to the same directory

Ba ha ha ha, that is funny :P

Hmm... Im the first ATI user to try this demo and the results are a little disappointing. My X800XT managed to muster 4FPS! Abba, do you know why the performance is so low on this card? Does ATI even support GL_Framebuffer_ext? ATI cards traditionally have slower OpenGL speed than nVidia, but this awful.

Get the latest catalyst and you should be performing well above that. People using the X800 in conjunction with the 5.4 drivers reported frame rates easily exceeding the 100 FPS.

I'm still heavily rewritting parts of my engine (to reenable benchmarking and some other stuff). I'll be reuploading a new version soon that should perfrom a bit better accross all machines
Stay tunned

Demo updated; now it should support any cards from 5200-6800 to 9500-X850 with no extra tricks/files.
I also managed to reduce if not totally eliminate the black artifacts that popped here and there.
Should run a bit faster too now that I'm sampling only 3 shadow values instead of four but it still looks really good

Default FBOs with Renderbuffers

Hi,

Does anybody has an example using renderbuffers? When I try to attach a renderbuffer to a FBO the status is always 'GL_FRAMEBUFFER_UNSUPPORTED_EXT'.

Thanks,
Christian

Well i have tested it again on old 5200 and now I was able to run it only with PIXEL_BUFFER .. no FBO_EXT ( previous version was running with FBO.. )

edit: but when I switch anisotropic filtering back to app-conrolled then it run with framebuffer_ext ..but everything except the flying box is black ..weird

Thats odd. I am running the 5.4. I might try reformatting (which I need to do anyways) and see if it helps.

Also try turn off/on VSync and see what the fps like, mine with VSync on, it got 59 fps and 120 fps with VSync off.

I doubt that will be the problem.. ale what VSync do is that it forces your graphic card to wait for your monitor till its refreshed so you can often see FPS same as the refresh rate of your monitor ( 60, 75,80,etc.. fps ) .. when you turn it off then your card doesnt wait for a monitor so fps can jump dramaticaly ( but usualy you will see no difference becouse your monitor is still running at 60 Hz, 75,80, etc Hz ).
But i really dont think that his monitor has refresh rate 4 Hz
