Default Quadro FX 4400 on SuSE Linux showing 256Mb

Hello,
I have solved the problem to get the card working on SuSE Linux 9.2 with dual-monitors support...

However, I have encountered the following two problems:

1) When I run the following command:

nvidia-settings

The dialog box show the correct graphic card, BUT only show that I
have 256Mb video memory... I understand that Quadro FX 4400 should be 512Mb, but I have only got half ?

I don't think I am the only one who encounter this problem, please see follwoing link:

http://www.nvnews.net/vbulletin/arch...p/t-48807.html

I have installed the latest driver 7174, which should support 512Mb video memory... also with latest kernel 2.6.11-7

Can anyone from NVidia please clarify?

Thanks

Hi kevin4, unrelated to your problem - do you use your FX 4400 with pseudocolor overlays? I wonder if this card can do full 8-bit deep overlays, not 5-bit as one of the lower-end Quadro FX cards that I've tried (FX 500) does. I'm trying to find out if this is a driver issue common to all cards or a hardware limitation on that one card.

If not too much trouble, could you set the following options in your xorg.conf (or XFree86.conf), in section describing the card:

Option "CIOverlay" "yes"
Option "OverlayDefaultVisual" "yes"

then start X server in 24-bit mode and run xdpyinfo?

Thanks in advance
Maxim

Everyone I've talked to has the same problem.

I reckon the drivers just haven't been written to cope yet.
