Default 1.0-7590 supports FBO (frame_buffer_object)

NVIDIA claims 1.0-7590 of the Linux driver supports the frame_buffer_object extension. (this seems to be a workstation non-public release sofar)

i really can't say...but i think it would be safe to assume that the next public release will include this extension aswell

Great, but can you say me which workstation I've to get?

having frame_buffer_object extension is fine, but if there is anything in the changelog about "improved"/"enhanced" together with "stability"/"reliability" in context with "6600/6800/6200 NU/GT/ULTRA" cards... please post...

it would also be really nice it they fixed the
"screen frozen, but mouse pointer moves"
bug that a lot of people triggers when RendelAccel
is enabled
And of course with next xorgs RendelAccel is
getting more and more important!

Sorry for being blunt, nVidia shouldn't be playing with new features, it should be improving driver stability and problem solving facilities.
Beside my private FX6600GT workstation that Xid's itself to death every time I run OpenGL software/games, (Bug report sent to nVidia; thread created in this group) I've also stalled an order for a dozen of so HP dual Opteron workstation fearing driver problem. If I can't play Doom3 at home, I will survive, but if 100,000$ worth workstations will be collecting dust due to buggy drivers, I'll be collecting welfare money...

I really, really, really hope nVidia is doing it's best to solve these issues.
The absolute silence from nVidia personal in these last few weeks doesn't bod well for us :/ (Hopefully, I'm mistaken...)

I'm looking forward to OpenGL 2.0 support too. I don't think i've come across any driver bugs with my setup in a long time, aside from the notorious garbled vesafb consoles.

I never either, except the heat issue after restarting X, but my framebuffer consoles with vesafb are perfectly fine.

Everything is working fine here, too -- vesafb, OpenGL, X.org 6.8.2 (even with RenderAccel -- however, I don't use Composite and friends yet), etc.

(Well, nvidia-settings segfaults inside XCloseDisplay(), but that's fairly minor. I suspect some part of my system isn't quite right, since nobody else sees this, but I don't know what.)

I wish there was a fullly open-source driver that supported 3D, but I understand the legal reasons there can't be, so that's not a huge deal either. (At least, I understand the reasons w.r.t. current boards. Putting some code into an EEPROM inside the device, and executing it on the GPU, could be one way around any licensing issues... but that's another topic.)

Let me put this way: I'll be nVidia's love slave if the next driver version solves all my problem. (And in return I'll release the HP deal *and* build myself a new home workstation. [Tyan Thunder K8WE, nVidia 6800U, 2 x 250 Opteron, etc).
How's that for a sweet deal?
