Default Interactive switching between twinview and cloned dual screen?

Hi. I'm using Warty Ubuntu with nvidia drivers, running Xfree86 and using KDE for desktop environment. The drivers are working and all.

This is my issue: whenever I want to switch from twinview (an extended screen with two heads that I can move windows back and forth between) and cloned screen (the exact same desktop on both screens), I need to change the XF86Config-4 file and restart the server.

I'm looking for a solution that allows me to change this setting without restarting the applications managed by the server, or at least an easier way to do this. The whole reason of this request is that OpenGL apps kinda place themselves in between the two heads or try to adjust to a resolution of 2048x768 (both of theese are totally unacceptable). Anyone have any suggestions that'd make my life a bit easier?

Thanks
