Default Tyan Thunder K8WE: Looking for a *working* video configuration

Hello all,

I'm building a 64bit Linux workstation based on a Tyan Thunder K8WE (w/SCSI). The initial machine will have 4GB of memory; future workstations will have 8GB.
The idea is simple: create the base configuration, make it work, and duplicate it.

The only open issue is the video card; considering the Xid problems I'm having with my FX6600GT (FX5xxx workstations work just fine) I don't really want to take the risk of having my brand new workstation collect dust under the table.

So, any suggestions?

Default Re: Tyan Thunder K8WE: Which nVidia GPU to get?

Hi,
At work we have a k8we whith FC3 (x86 version) installed. We use a Quadro FX1400 and I have to not recommend you this card... at least since openGL issues (machine lockups and restarts....caused by xid i think) get solved.

One question...... Have u already installed the 64 bit Linux?

Ouch... I do hope I'll fare better, though I'm beginning to doubt it...

As for 64bit Linux, yes, we are using RHEL3/64 on our IBM e325 dual Opteron servers. I've yet to go 64bit on a workstation. (The Tyan will be my first 64bit workstation)

Cheers,
