Default Sync to Vblank problem on 7174

When I enable Sync to VBlank, start up a glxgears, and start dragging it around the screen, I get 5 second freezes intermittently.
I've tried Fedora Core 2 and FC3 with 7174
We use Sync to VBlank in some of our apps, so this is a big problem for us.

They get it because all nvidia really develops the drivers for are these workstation guys.
Everyone should get such drivers, the Windows people get beta drivers, why cant we?

Have you tried with another window manager, eg. sawfish?

I don't think it was a typing error. But I am rather curious how these drivers may work (or not) on my computer!

Take a look in his logs:
Code:
NVRM: loading NVIDIA Linux x86 NVIDIA Kernel Module 1.0-7658 Tue Apr 26 14:01:36 PDT 2005
NVRM: loading NVIDIA Linux x86 NVIDIA Kernel Module 1.0-7658 Tue Apr 26 14:01:36 PDT 2005
so he actually has it... (BTW erek, where did you get the 7590 infos?)

Jay: have you ever tried setting "Sync to VBlank"(OpenGL Tab) with nvidia-settings...?

and BTW... what's the brand of your Quadro... (or was it already in the HP Workstation)?

I agree, there should be a real testing period so all problems could be discovered and corrected before the release so we won't have to wait a year to see if by chance it's been corrected.
I hope Nvidia changes this soon, otherwise I might consider getting an ATI next time.

I'm building a new workstation (Dual Opteron, Thunder K8WE, FX6xxx); I just *know* that I'm about to get screwed with the nVidia drivers and that it'll take ages till I get drivers that work, and there's nothing I can do about it.
But I know, and sadly enough nVidia know, that ATI is even worse... nVidia just wins by default.

Being a kernel dev myself, I can appreciate the difficulties of developing drivers for a moving target such as the Linux kernel; I'm willing to accept the fact that my brand new FX6600GT is useless due to driver problems;
What I cannot, and will not accept, is the lack of official support: bug reports get ignored; most (if not all) of the posts on this forum are ignored (not even a "We are aware that there's a problem with the FX6600GT, please supply us with the following information and we'll try and solve it"), nothing.

But as I said before, nVidia owns us, and they know it.
