Default Radeon X800XL 512MB review & benchmark

Well i guess this is the first 512MB framebuffer equipped video card's benchmark i get to see .

http://www.tbreak.com/reviews/articl...9&pagenumber=1

in summary benchmarks showed what we expected .. some games offer no increase at all & some others have shown a little bit increase at very high resolutions.

It depends on the review though. Can you guess who came to this orgasmic conclusion? I know, it's pretty easy.

When all of this is added together you get what is in our opinion the best gaming card currently available on the market. In terms of performance and value and future proofing there is noting better than the ATI/Sapphire Radeon X800 XL 512mb

Best gaming card avail huh? Wow..just wow. Most of the other reviewers weren't so happy about it.

Yea but who really takes DH serriosly anymore....

What I thought was intresting is the very small gains that were shown in some titles when you compare it to the very large gains shown by HL2.

I liked this summary.

Quote:
The Half Life 2 performance boost is particularly interesting, but that was the only game we encountered where the performance boost was not only reasonable but the game was also fairly smooth in actual game play. But at the price of the X800 XL 512MB, you are better off just purchasing an X850 XT and getting better performance across the board, including Half Life 2.

habing 512 mb on a video card is silly for now.. our GPU's as they are dont have the power to take full advantage of all that memory

Count me on the non impressed bandwagon. Right now, Most games that have 256 meg requirements. Actually arent requiring 256 meg cards. The amount of texture usage isnt doubling. Just the amount of texture usage is exceeding 128 meg cards. And even with 4xAA/1600x1200 resolution we're simply not seeing anything come close to that framebuffer requirement.
