Right, got my copy from microsoft through, recently changed ISP to an 8MB ADSL provider, and unbelievably there isn't a single ADSL modem with XP64 drivers yet. So now i'm stuffed as technically I traded my XP Home product key for this one, so i'm pirating my old software unintentionally as the swines are not making any 64 bit drivers.

If anybody has a solution to that, please let me know ...bearing in mind I can only connect via PPPoA and not PPPoE being in the UK.

Regards,

If it makes anybody feel any better I just got my copy on Wed, and they sure did take their sweet time. All in all the 6.66 nForce drivers seem somewhat stable except for corrupted dl files. My aud 2 drivers installed without a hitch along with the 77.72 Forceware. Right now I'm dl Far Cry just two more hrs until game time. The chipset drivers definetly need serious work i judt hope the next set of drivers will fix the dl bug for 6.66. But so far it's all pretty good. And I will not register this copy till the end of the year. Making imaged backups of both OS'es is what you want to do, to avoid the dreaded confession call to M$. You gotta be kinda nuts to trade in your xp 32 bit key at this point and time, when the programs are still in Alpha stage, BTW Mozilla has Alpha 2 FF broswser and I have been using it since yesterday with no ill effects.

I've found a solution, there are a few PPPoA enabled ADSL routers out there, will pick up one of those ADSL2+ enabled ones for future proofing me thinks , seeing as that comes out here soon. That way I could hook up via the Ethernet seeing as that does work in XP 64.

Thanks,

That's just it I'm hooked up to DSL on a GS104 giga switch, even the web based GUI is broken for the firewall. I can surf and all that it's just some files randomly get corrupted. I ended uup using 6.53 on top 6.66 and then ran 6.66 without the lan driver. I left Farcry on for two days going on three. And I had one little bounce to desktop I defragged and rebooted and it's all good so far. They just need to work on a better performing more stable chipset driver, along with a non issue lan driver. That's why Intel shines in this catagory. If Nvidia can just get the stability issue fixed I'd be a happy camper for sure. As far as the game, there are some spots in the steam level and a few others where there is just to much lagg I don't know if it's the game in combination with the 6.66's/ 7.72's as far as I'm concerned they need to get on ball and get us a better set of drivers. I haven't seen broken software gui's since the early SiS days of writing drivers.

Okay i'm ready to take the plunge into 64 bit goodness.
So far i've managed to roundup these drivers; mobo, gfx, audigy, and chipset.
as far as programs go, i have Fraps, Avast!, WinRar, and Firefox.

I only play BF2 and SC:CT (is the x64 patch out yet?).
I don't think i'm missing anything, but i'm going to go completely 64bit in about a week or so.

Any other programs that might be useful?

Will MS Office 2K3 work with x64 pro?

I was happy to find how stable, tidy, and quick XP x64 was... Then I realized I have no drivers for my printer, digital camera, or my video capture so I have to go back to XP x86... And for Canon product owners, dont expect x64 drivers for any of your devices anytime soon

I don't know if this has been posted before in this thread but planetamd64.com is the place to go for your 64 bit computer needs. They have many beta drivers and work arounds for various issues you may be experiencing.

I just made the jump to WinXP 64bit & after two days I wish I hadnt.
My printer, digital cam & various software doesnt work. I just feel bad
because I spent $140 & will most likely go back to XP Pro/Home.

It will be a great OS once drivers & software are up to 64bit standard.
If anyone has an extra XP Home/Pro they would like to part with, plz
let me know. We can work out a trade or something.

P.S. If you are considering buying XP 64bit but want to try before you buy..
Microsoft has a 120 day trial version you can download (ISO).

[ Microsoft Windows XP 64bit 120 Day Trial ]

Wish I had know about this before I bought it.
