I am looking at putting a low to mid range PCI graphics card in a Dell Dimension (no AGP slot).
I have another system (home-grown) that has an AGP slot and I had installed a (BFG) GeForce FX5500 OC card w/256MB. Works great for what we use it for. In looking at PCI options for this new Dell, I've narrowed the selection to either an ATI Radeon 9250 w/256MB or another BFG GeForce FX 5500 OC w/256MB. I'm leaning toward the nVidia option. Will the performance of the PCI version of the GeForce FX 5500 OC be on par with the AGP version? Will it perform as well as the 9250? |

System 1 (orig)
* 1.6GHz AMD * BFG FX 5500 OC (AGP) System 2 (new) * 2.4GHz Celeron * BFG FX 5500 OC (PCI) Initial impression is that the system w/the AGP card runs smoother. No data yet, just initial user experience. |

I'd like to know this as well, as my friend is stuck without an AGP port. He tried an FX5500, but it only had a 64-bit memory bus so it was total garbage.
