I have been trying to get the new Nvidia 3123 and the new 4191 driver to work on my C840 Bios A07 with no luck. The system is running RH8 with kernel 2.4.18-18.0. I downloaded and rebuilt both the kernel and GLX from src file, installed without any problem. However, it only work if external monitor is pluggin to my notebook. I also added this on my modules.config for 3123
options NVdriver NVreg_SoftEDIDs=0 NVreg_Mobile=1 This didn't make any different. The log file show that no monitor is connected. Anyone had any idea how can I get the driver to display on the built in LCD? Thanks, |

Easy.
![]() In your Device section (... or maybe your Screen section where the other Option lines are -- try Device first, I guess), add an Option "ConnectedMonitor" "DFP" line. According to the nVidia docs, that's what to do when the driver can't detect what kind of monitor is connected at startup time. Of course, that generally applies only to KVM type setups, where the monitor isn't always connected, and not to a notebook, but your notebook is probably just weird like that. Hopefully adding that Option will work.

I did try the MonitorConnected option and it didn't worked. The only driver ever worked on this system is 2960 and RH 7.3. With RH8 I can still use 2960 by forcing to load the driver but then after exit out from XWindows, the VGA mode(text mode) is blurry.
Thanks, |

When you specify ConnectedMonitor, can you get an X log from that run? "It didn't work" is, in general, a little vague...

This for your reply, attached is the log file. It didn't complain but for some reason this driver think the external VGA output is the primary display.
