Well I just got through playing it for about 5 hours and have to say Iím very impressed, worked flawlessly on my computer running at 1280x960 something like that and was running AA2x AF8x Well after playing this I canít wait until it comes out and someone redo's 1942 with this engine.

Also Im glad that the helocopters are still the same and jets, little different fell but after playing with it for 10 min got the hang of it again.

I enjoyed the demo. Played it for a few hours. Did some Single and Multiplayer. For some reason it feels a bit more like BF1942 than BFV which is a good thing. I just never got into BFV.

The menu UI is a bit complex, and still did not let me configure all my controls. I had to manually edit the config file to allow myself to use ALT to reload weapon as it was a hidden preset. The weapons don't feel like they do very much, I fired a anti tank missile at a person point blank and they turned around and shot at me. It can take a half a clip of SMG to kill an enemy.

The game list is not sorted by ping by default and is very slow to use for some reason. Overall quality was quite good, I didn't see any show stopping bugs and was able to work around most issues I encountered. Just remembered, I did get some endless hangs, once while creating an account, and another time while trying to join a game. Performance was good, but I'm using an Athlon64, 6800GT and a beta video driver, so reasonable performance was expected.

I've played it for an hour or so tonight. So far I think it's pretty good, I thought BF1942 was alright but has some annoyances with it, and this game seems to be a nice improvement in some ways (particularly the air combat/weapon lock). Unfortunately, it's also disapointing in some ways: no moving watercraft larger than a transport boat, no submarines, and it seems even laggier. In fact, I think the lag I got was the biggest problem I've run into so far. Sometimes it seems like I'm warping around and almost everything I interacted with took a second or two to actually respond. My connection isn't great tonight, but I'm getting 120 ping in CS:S right now and it plays silky smooth, yet every Battlefield 2 server I joined (even the low player ones) made me feel like I was playing Planetside on dial-up all over again. Still, the feel of the weapons seem improved, and it has some nice new stuff, so I'll put a bit more into it over the next couple days. I'm REALLY looking forward to trying out the choppers, I got insanely good with the Desert Combat ones and from what I hear the BF:V/BF2 ones are even easier to control.

The choppers feel weird, like there is some sort of inertal dampening system that kicks in, really messes with my flying style

All EA games are crap. I will never play any game with EA Games or EA Sports logo on it. The reason is simple...they suck...

I haven't installed this demo, and i'm not going to...this demo and any EA game is not worth of my time spent uninstalling and reinstalling drivers.

There are a lot other games i can play....

From the screenshots this game is like Black Hawk Down, but only multiplayer. I'd rather play UT2004 and have hell of fun

You do realise that EA is just the publisher right? They didn't make BF2. They just stamp their name on it and market the product.

I don't think its right to make a judgement on a product before actually playing it. Maybe this game will be the best game you have ever played, if you just gave it a shot. After playing the demo, I can definetely see areas of concern, but to make a final decision on a product just because of a publishers name is a little ridiculous IMO.

BF2 was made by Dice and EA is the publisher but so what? When playing a game you actually have time to think about who made it or published it? Thow away the box and cover your eyes when there logo pops up is what I recommend instead of missing out on a great free demo.

For someone who hasn't played much of the battlefield series, the demo takes some getting use to. I died countless times my first few rounds. Everytime I tried to fly, I'd get a good 20 feet off the ground the fall and crash. I finally got to a point where I've given up flying and started working on my on-foot combat. Once I found my class (specialist) I was sneaking into a control point, taking out two or three enemies, and capturing it, by my self. I've been playing for 4 hours, the game is just a blast to play. For me, this is a must have.

Also, the shadows look awful on my X800XT. It only seems to be the dynamic shadows, not the ones cast by the trees or building. It's almost like they are made up of large blocks.

Ok if anyone is getting thrown back to the desktop after starting the game try this.
Go to C:\Program Files\EA GAMES\Battlefield 2 Demo\mods\bf2\Settings (change the path for wherever you installed the game) and open VideoDefault.con with notepad. now change renderer.allowAllRefreshRates 0 to renderer.allowAllRefreshRates 1
Now play the game
