http://www.nvidia.com/object/unix.html
since there is a download page for the driver, what about the patches,.... piecemail search,.... there should be one place, to get the patches, instead of searching the forum,... also, if the 7676 had a bunch of patches, to have an updated 7676 release,..... since losts of the older even current releases,... suse 9.3, suse 10.0 are useing the 7676 driver, ....without the patches,... request: nvidia ftp site, with all the patches,.... thanks, Robert Schultz ---------------------- (NVIDIA)

There is one place for all official patches, specifically, the sticky threads that appear at the top of every page in the Linux forums on nvnews.
The same existed for 1.0-7676, although they are no longer sticky, as its no longer a supported driver since the release of 1.0-8174. Thanks, Lonni |

Hi Lonni,
understand, that somebody can dig through those,.... my point is, that there is a official driver download page,.... but unless, you search for forums, and siff through threads,.... you won't find an offical place, webpage, ftp site, where you can just download patches,... all other software site, have a version repository, and a patch directory, with version history,.... good ,bad, ugly,... don't care, put them up on an ftp site, and please, also, have a reference link , on the main download site,... it's just not fair, to have somebody download an driver, spend countless hours, to make it work, to find out, you need an patch, and even if you know from somebody , that you do need an patch, to have to hunt for it,... ehm, what about a patch notification list/bog ,... for the poor IT folks,?? or other folks,... who sit on the geforce cards,... not haveing the time, to live on the nvidia forum, to find out about a possible patch, when you would know,.... that brings us to documentation ?? but that's another can of worms,.... cheers, Robert Schultz ------------------------- (NVIDIA)ps: everybody short some NVIDIA stocks,.... since I'am shure it will go up,.... -> next year,.... i think it's not necessary to have a special place for driver patches on the official nvidia site. and if somebody spent hours on getting the driver to work it shows that he didn't read the official download side carefully enough or just didn't get back there to look for topics like "known issues" or "troubleshooting"...

I dont mean to start a flame war here but why dosnt nvidia just release an updated driver instead of patches? If theres a problem with the win drive nvidia will release an update right away, on Linux, BSD, and Solaris nvidia will release a patch on these forums. I understand rsrtfm concern, people who are new to Linux, BSD, and/or Solaris will only goto the nvidia page for drivers if something dosnt work they will be turned off.
