I've got an old PIII 500 MHz sitting around uselessly since it's missing a video card. I would like to buy one and sell the entire system to a renter next door.
I notice rvvae selling a GeForce 2 Ti 64 mb in the sale forum, but I'm wondering if that's overkill for such an old system? I want an AGP 1x/2x 3.3V (non-compliant AGP 2.0) that maximizes the system. ATi, nVidia, SiS, 3DFX, Matrox, etc. |

A geforce 2 ti would be fine for a system like that. Id say, dont spend more than $20 for a card for that system. rvvae's price is good for something like that. Itd suit it well, and if you threw a faster CPU in it later itd scale well.

The GF2 Ti would be perfect for that machine. Not underpowered like a GF2 MX, but certainly not overkill like a GF2 Ultra. For what he's charging, I'd go for it, it's a pretty good deal.

GF2 GTS, ti, Ultra, or any GF3... so basically any $25-$40 vidcard that doesn't have MX in the name...

Well since the 7800 series is PCI-X only then I guess u will be limited to a 6800 Ultra or x850. lol
Actually, I'd prob go for a GF3 series. |

Keep the Gf3 cards for the at least 1ghz systems but as for the P3/500mhz, the GF2 Ti card will do. ![]()

I remember in my P3 450 rig back in the day I had it paired with an AGP GF2 GTS and it played everything fine.
