Default High CPU - AMD FX-53, Kernel 2.6.12.3, GT6600, X v6.8.2

Greetings all,

It seems I have a major problem with the GT6600 card in my AMD box (FX-53, 2GB RAM). I am running the latest NVidia X driver (1.0-.7667) on a Fedora-3 build. Each time I start an application like Firefox or Thunderbird (or move the windows around), the CPU goes to 90% during the activity. It appears as though all the video "horsepower" is coming from the system CPU and not the video card CPU.

The output of "lspci" is:

I have searched thru all the info I can find for the appropriate options in the xorg.conf file and have come up with these:

Section "Module"
Load "dbe"
Load "extmod"
Load "fbdevhw"
Load "glx"
Load "record"
Load "freetype"
Load "type1"
# Load "dri"
Load "glcore"
EndSection
...
...
...
Section "Device"
Identifier "Videocard0"
Driver "nvidia"
Option "TwinView " "on"
Option "TwinViewOrientation" "RightOf"
Option "MetaModes" "1600x1200,1600x1200"
Option "SecondMonitorHorizSync" "30 - 96.0"
Option "SecondMonitorVertRefresh" "50 - 120"
Option "NoTwinViewXineramaInfo" "true"
VendorName "Videocard vendor"
BoardName "NVidia Dual Head (generic)"
Option "RenderAccel" "true"
EndSection

Can someone please confirm these are the correct settings? Am I missing something? The strange part is I used this exact card in another machine last night (dual Xeon 3.06 box) and the card worked perfectly - very fast w/no high CPU problem.

Thanks,

-Ron

Have you checked the assorted logs in /var/log (especially the X log) for errors? Can you post an nvidia-bug-report.log?
