Exclamation one screen blank unless nv loaded first... then nvidia works fine

When I reboot and startx, only one of my 2 DVI monitors comes up (the one that was active during the console mode). The X server never finishes loading and the second monitor never becomes active.

However, everything works fine if I use the nv driver instead of the nvidia driver. Interestingly, once I have started X with the nv driver, I can then exit and switch to the nvidia driver without any problems. I don't know what's really going on, but it seems like the nv driver is puting the monitor or the graphics card into an "active" state-- which can then be utilized by the nvidia driver.

Obviously, I don't want to start X twice, every time I reboot (first with nv and then with nvidia).

Any suggestions on what I should try next?

my setup:
2 dvi monitors (dell 2001fp)
uname -a
Linux localhost.localdomain 2.6.11-1.1369_FC4smp #1 SMP Thu Jun 2 23:08:39 EDT 2005 i686 i686 i386 GNU/Linux
[root@localhost ~]# lspci | grep nV

01:04.0 VGA compatible controller: nVidia Corporation NV34 [GeForce FX 5500] (rev a1)
my /etc/X11/xorg.conf is attached, as is my current Xorg.0.log

Default Re: 2-card, dual dvi, xinerma, rhfc4, one screen blank unless 'nv' loaded first

Do you still have this problem if you upgrade to the 1.0-7667 driver?

If so can you generate an nvidia-bug-report.log the next time this problem happens (and before you shutdown X to use the 'nv' driver)?
