Time is a function of intuition, so in your case it probably is going backwards.

YES! It just got delivered. This thing is BEAUTIFUL! Where do I check to make sure it's a Venice core?

hmmm...I checked the model number, ADA3000DAA4BP, and it comes up as being the OEM venice. It's not. It's retail, and it says the OEM version runs at 1.5v whereas the retail version runs at 1.35/1.4v.

What's the deal?

What are you talking about? OEM and Retail both run at 1.4V. Also the chip inside a retail box will be the same as what you get OEM, just it comes with a fan and longer warranty.

Right, but NewEgg has a different model# for the boxed retail version and OEM version and my CPU has the OEM model#.

And the site also says the OEM chip runs at 1.5v whereas the retail runs at 1.35/1.4v.

I just want to find out if they are the same due to the difference in #s and specs.

Is there a chart on AMD's site somewhere?

1.35 - 1.40 Volts

But you're probably going to overclock it anyway right?

Right, but I'd rather START at 1.4 than 1.5.

I'm sure it's fine superkyle, I think sometimes newegg screws up their product features database.

I'd start at 1.35v @ stock if the mobo allowed.

*edit - ah who am I kidding I'd probably pump it up all the way!! Come on 2.7 GHz!! lol thats basically how I did it with my Barton core.

hahaha...well, I have to update to the latest BIOS until the core is recognized correctly. And I have no idea how to OC a 64 with all the crazy HTT and stuff. I'll have to look into it and make sure I don't screw anything up.

I guess this baby can be pushed pretty far with minimal increases in vcore and minimal temperature increases all on the stock HSF. w00t!
