Question how to check 3d (glx)

probably a stupid question, but how can i check if glx is actually working ?
is it that simple, that if glxgears isn't runnin glx itself isn't ok ?
and what is the output of glxinfo tellin me ?
what do i have to look for ?

Do something like this on a shell under X11:

> glxinfo | grep render
direct rendering: Yes
OpenGL renderer string: GeForce2 MX/AGP/SSE/3DNOW!

If "direct rendering" is "No" you don't have hardware accelerated rendering, probably using the software renderer from Mesa.

Debian unstable, Linux 2.4.20-ac2, Athlon XP 2000+, A7N-266-VM (nForce/GeForce2 MX)
