This thread is about having 1 CRT/analog monitor and 1 DVI LCD monitor hooked up. The problem is the nvidia linux driver uses the analog as the primary display no matter what when using Twinview. If we could all afford two DVI LCD's then there wouldn't be a problem.

We have no access to nvidia's bug database, but I'm guessing this one was marked WONTFIX.

This bug remains open, and was not marked won't fix.

Lonni,
Thank you for the update. I guess was just feeling pessimistic because of the lack of any official news on this issue.

I'm glad Susie got his/her system working by buying ATI. However, after installing Ubuntu on a relative's comp with an ATI card, I will never buy an ATI card myself despite the problem discussed here. Certain ATI cards crash the xserver constantly even after installing and troubleshooting the ATI drivers. I do not recommend.

Read carefully. Lonni was just responding to my half-serious supposition about the status of this bug.

Hi,
after hacking around for several hours and days, I found this thread (like all the others).
I run into the same problems when using the laptop to give presentations. I would like to have my laptop-screen as the primary device and the beamer as the second device. I am currently using a Dell Laptop and try to change my companies policy from Win-based laptops to Linux based systems. My system is a prototype for this. Unfortunately I am not able to release the image until this issue is solved. A sales-person would otherwise be completely confused.

Dear NVidia, please help us out of here.

Thanks
Jochen

Hi, I found this thread after trying for many hours to figure how to make the DFP my primary display. I am using Twinview with XGL and really want to have DFP as my primary display - there are subtle differences between primary and secondary displays and not everything can be configured.

nVidia, please, please, make this configurable in your drivers.

Hello, I'm (un)happy to find this forum - I'm one of TwinView users. It took me whole day to disover, that problem is not on my side, but it's nvidia bussiness. I use ASUS A6K Laptop with nVidia Go 6200. I'd like to use external monitor as a secondary monitor and laptop display as a primary. As everybody in this forum know, this can't have be done in this time.

I would like to ask nVidia to consider the importance of this problem and to solve it as soon as possible. It would make me (us) happy.

Can anybody of nvidia comment this problem regularly to let us know whether solution is on the way? (@netllama)
