Is that bug list public (like a bugzilla page or something) or is that just internal? Just want to know if we can keep tabs on it without turning into children on a long car ride.

After wrestling with this issue for the past 5 hours before finding this thread, I must also humbly submit my request for this bug to be fixed.

Also, I too would be interested in seeing the driver's bug tracker if it is indeed public.

I'll throw in my nickel on this topic too since I have the same problem (want DFP = Primary).

I also bought this card because of the Linux drivers (in case anyone wonders the value of supporting Linux).

I agree that this should be made higher priority. When running fluxbox for example, some programs start up on the primary monitor and some on the monitor where you opened the menu. Emacs for example always start on the primary monitor, which is "my" secondary monitor. Really annoying.

I have got the same problem. I hope this feature will be in the next update. Im using a notebook and in my opinion it is the typical way to make the internal screen primary.

I use two X screens but I don t know how to make the internal screen primary. In ServerLayout the first screen is my internal display and the external monitor is "leftof". But when I start the X-Server my external monitor is the primary screen.

So I guess it hasn't been fixed yet, right? Grrr, I've been waiting for more than 3 months!

Ugh, no fix in the new drivers? I had hoped to be able to finally use the DVI cable with my CRT (and have it remain the primary display of course)

This is fixed in 1.0-8756. See the UseDisplayDevice option:

Thanks,
Lonni

Unhappy Re: first display on twinview

The UseDisplayDevice seems to only solve part of the problem. It works when what is wanted is to enable only one or several particular monitors (that are not CRTs for example).

But if what you want is enable two monitors (DFP-0 and a CRT-0) on the same card, and make DFP-0 the primary monitor on the Xinerama extension, this still doesn't work (ie gdm will still appear on the CRT screen, instead of the DFP).

For example, I used the option "UseDisplayDevice" "DFP-0, CRT-0" in my config file, but the log of the X server shows that devices have been reordered "CRT-0, DFP-0", and gdm appears on the CRT.

Am I missing something?
