I assumed this was already fixed with UseDisplayDevice for dual monitor :/
It should work using twinview, not by creating two seperate X screens...

So is this absolutely validated as not working?

Yep, TwinView would make things embarrasingly simple if it wasn't for this problem. Here's hoping this gets fixed soon.

Exactly, this nvidia devs big thinko costs almost any DH user
hours of fighting against xorg.conf and than finaly discovering
that this doesn't work.

Once again:
Option "ConnectedMonitor" "DFP-1,CRT-0"
Option "ConnectedMonitor" "DFP-0,CRT-1"

etc.
should just overide autodetection as it does.
(think: your monitor is off at X11 start)

Option "UseDisplayDevice" "DFP, CRT"
Option "UseDisplayDevice" "CRT-1, CRT-0"

etc.
should independently of any other Leftof & co. option
set the fist one as primary and the second one as secondary
screen. Yes, this would be great !

I just can't believe, that this thing is still being ignored by NVIDIA - this feature is available on Windows without any problems - so where is the problem in enabling it for Linux??
Latest driver release (dated 05-22) still doesn't support it

I agree. This is a serious problem for me. I have a lot of respect for nvidia and I expected a timely resolution. This is really dissapointing.

I've been reading this thread with great interest. So far I don't have a twinview setup, but I'm about to have soon. I'm going to have my TFT monitor connected to the VGA port (VGA -> VGA), and my LCD tv connected via the DVI-I port (with a DVI -> VGA cable), since my LCD only supports 1:1 pixelmapping on the VGA input. So I guess that both are analog, right?

I need to have my monitor being the primary display, since I'm only going to use my LCD tv once in a while for games and HD-clips etc.

So how should I do it in xorg.conf?

* Fixed several issues with mode selection for CRTs and DFPs.

Can someone from Nvidia comment on what this change item in the latest drivers means? Should it affect any of the issues mentioned here?

My guess would be that you won't have any problems with your setup using the normal (current) twinview configuration since it uses CRT-0 (the VGA-Port) as Primary Display... the TV connected to DFP-0 (DVI-Port) will be secondary monitor anyhow with the current drivers...

Greetings,

Sav

I'm getting sick of this. How hard can it be...

You know, if these drivers were open-source I bet someone would have submitted a patch a looooong time ago.

Well, I'm not sure if my TV will be DFP-0 since it's still an analog connection (DVI-I --> VGA cable). I'm going to use the VGA port on my TV. So I guess that this connection will show up as CRT also. Hopefully it will show up as CRT-1 and my TFT will show up as CRT-0.

Or have a misunderstood something. Is the DVI-I port always made into DFP-X?

And do I have to use the "ConnectedMonitors" option?
