It's the only place I know of where we have a chance at getting through to Nvidia about this problem. Unless netllama or another Nvidia person can suggest a better way of influencing them.

I'll send the nvidia devs beer if they can fix it... or a bottle of your favorite liquor

This feature would be very handy.

In response to a post some way back about synching XV to certain monitor. There is an option to select which monitor to sync to in the nvidia-settings utility. It seems to work as far as I can tell.

Last time I looked, that was only for TwinView... if you used separate X11 displays, you couldn't choose to sync XV to anything but your primary display.

More info on xv synching:

Even with that option selected I seem to be getting some synching problems that I do not see in windows. This is with both mplayer and xine. I'm not sure if this is related to the primary monitor monitor issues, but I'll investigate that tonight (by running just my LCD).

Either way, the option to select a primary display is being sorely missed.

The diagram posted by tkbletsc is also the way that I would like Twinview to work under Linux (it's how I have it setup in XP and Vista b2, and a nice GUI under Linux would be nice too, fighting with xorg.conf is not all that fun, IMO).

But perhaps it's not something that Nvidia can simply fix with a diver release, but something related to gnome or the other desktop environments. The drivers work fine otherwise.

It would be nice if that were the case because someone could have fixed it already

Nvidia have acknowledged the bug:

Same problem here. I would love to see this fixed, or at least a work-around!

I will put myself into this row and wait for nVidia to get this issue/bug fixed.

SyncMaster 206B DFP(20.1") ->DVI
IIyama Vision Master Pro410 CRT(17") ->VGA

TwinView 3200x1200
KDE configured to get things a bit bearable to use.
GL is working with 8762 and Linux 2.6.17.1-tmb-desktop-1mdv
