Well, I JUST ordered a 6800GT to replace my 5950U. It was more of a tide-me-over until I can get a rig with an X2 4400 and either dual 7800GTXs or dual R520s.

A mere 6800GT. Well, it came to about $290 at MonarchComputer and as MSRP was just dropped to $299 I probably could have gotten a better buy next week. Oh well, live and learn. ;-)

Could any of you also supply some of these GeForce 7800 GT BIOS's? From the different brands as we would like to update NiBiTor to support this card asap. Thanks...
You may send em directly to me [mavke@mvktech.net]

Just a note: Unwinder claims that these cards can't be unlocked. When pressed ("Were they lasered?") he replied with a "Something like that." Considering he wrote RT, and that's what one uses to unlock pipes (unless there's some new proggie), I think it would be fair to assume he isn't lying.

The Thread:
http://forums.guru3d.com/showthread.php?threadid=148230

Until further data emerges, I'd be seriously careful about counting on even having the possibility of unlocking these cards.

Ridiculous DOES not have an 'e' in it. It comes from "ridicule" and has less than nothing to do with the colour red.

funny how this works out.
theoretically prices should rise when there is only one product in the market as there is no competition to make them drop. (and that the maker can charge any price he likes, a mock monopoly if you will)

but with the 7800's they have done nothing but drop down in price, even with no competition. great performance and quality, great price at under msrp on launch day, and easily available on launch day--aka hard launched. not to mention the previous generations are dropping in price like mad also. this is nothing but good for the consumer.
