Default Dual Head with GeForce 5200 in Dell 5150

I've got this working in under 5 minutes in Windows. I know its possible. I've gone through the nVidia instructions for the newest driver, I tried their knowlege base, I looked here... no luck.

I'm trying to use my laptop screen and my CRT together as one big desktop. I've been able to get this to work on PCs with two seperate video cards but never with just one card.

I'm running Suse 9.3 Pro with all the lastest kernel updates. Apparently, its also running the Xorg server instead of XFree86. (I'm not sure what the difference is, but apparently, there is one.) I have a Dell Inspiron 5150 with the nVidia 5200 Go card with 64 meg ram.

If you have figured out how to do this, please let me know. I've been banging my head against the wall for hours with this problem.
Thanks.

Okay. I got it working finally. That was pretty weird.

Only problem now is that the fonts in FireFox are screwed up. They're all huge.

K. Font problem fixed. (Edit->Preferences->Fonts and Colors->Display Resolution = 72dpi)

I don't believe that's the correct solution, since it leaves other applications broken. For example, Acrobat Reader relies on the system resolution as well; in TwinView mode, documents are stretched horizontally and compressed vertically.

What I noticed from xdpyinfo was that the X server had the correct total resolution (in my case, 2880x1200), but it was using the physical dimensions of my first monitor, thus arriving at a bogus 170x95 DPI resolution.

What I did was change the dimensions of my primary monitor in xorg.conf to use the total width of both my monitors, i.e., changing

DisplaySize 430 320

to

DisplaySize 770 320

xdpyinfo now correctly reports:

dimensions: 2880x1200 pixels (770x321 millimeters)
resolution: 95x95 dots per inch

And both Firefox and Acrobat work correctly when left at the default setting of "use system resolution." I'm guessing other applications that would be broken are also fixed.
