Heya, I just built my friend a computer heres the specs:
AMD Athlon 64 3800+ Processor (Venice) Socket 939 eVGA e-GeForce 6800 GT PCI Express 256mb WD1200JD 120GB SATA Liteon SOHC-5235K DVD 16x + CD-RW 52x32x52 MSI K8N Neo4 Platinum nForce4 Ultra Athlon 64 Skt939 Corsair TWINX1024-3200C2PT 1GB DDR400 XMS3200 (2.5 3 3 6 atm 2.7v) Antec P160 Anodized Aluminum Super Mid Tower Case Ultra X-Connect 500w PSU Floppy drive :P Windows XP Pro w/sp2 It gets around 4987 Score on 3dMark 2005, Is this normal? Or should it be higher. Thanks Just wondering if you guys had any input or suggestions on tweaking it. I know that 3dMark is just a synth benchmark but he hasn't bought Half-Life 2 or anything else I can bench it on yet. |

Yeah, dont worry so much about benchmarks, as long as games run smooth, your friend is fine. =)

Ok thanks :P I just wish I could have convinced him to get a 7800GTX :P But then it would have been over the $1200 budget.

Hmmm, the score is kindah low, but I had my 6800gt overclocked(which died; I broke the core somehow) when I got a score of 5441
![]() But why didn't you tell him to buy an SLi mobo? Then he could have updated his system a year from now...

Your score does seem low to me also, I got my current scores with a 6800GT at 415/1100, and you have 200mhz on me on the CPU.

He can't really afford SLi :P
In a few years hell probably just buy a new card that would be better then two SLi 6800 Gt's anyway. Ok I installed all the latest drivers off of Msi's site and the latest video drivers, set the ram timings to 2.5 3 3 6 , 2.7v Is there something I missed? Some kind of setting on the mobo? The Bios is different then what I'm used to on my IC7-Max 3 mobo, alot more options for Dram settings. |
