You can't return opened games to Best Buy. You can only exchange them for the same product.

I once exchanged a game stating that it wouldn't run on my PC, It was Shade: Wrath of Angels and I got Growlanser Generations insted. You gotta make a good case but it is possible.

I thought it was a statutory right to return items you're unhappy with.
Pretty sure it is in this country anyway.

Oh well. Put it down to experience and move on.. ??

Not with media on CD or DVD, the reasoning is that you can just buy it, copy it, and return it. Some stores have had brief (7-day) return policies for opened game/music/movie media but usually cut them off due to abuse.

They made it quite obvious. It said on the steam website:

"DoD: Source will only be included in the Gold and Silver steam packages"

It also said on the steam website that the retail version is = bronze.

Its not Valve's falt you were not able to put 2 and 2 together.

Look, it's not worth arguing about anymore. It wasn't to begin with. My beef is that there is nothing, absolutely NOTHING stopping VALVe from offering the purchasers of the CE either a discounted price or the game for free. Nothing but their own greed. I don't care who "packaged" the game or anything. VALVe owns their own intellectual property as well as Steam and could very easily allow CE owners the privileges of Steam Silver.

I don't care what any website said, what any box said. For $80 ****ing dollars, I deserve more than a piece of **** book, shirt and game on DVD. And again: there is nothing stopping VALVe from giving it to me other than their own greed.

Whatever. I'm done. **** VALVe and **** their terrible customer support.

I look at it this way.. The money you spent on CE, was to go thru Vivendi to get the base HL2 package.

The extra cost was for the box, the tshirt, and that little booklet.

Do I think its worth it? Hell no.. Thats why I never buy the Collector editions or whatnot for any game.

There's no deserve.. Its all about what you were willing to pay. Valve had their packages available. There were even standard editions available from Vivendi. YOU made the decison to buy the CE edition.

So in the end, people that bought the CE, that complain they spent too much money, simply made a bad value decision in the first place, and should have gotten the standard edition.

Companies have to make money.. You can argue, why doesn't Valve give HL2 out for pratically free, and pay everyone minimum wage and barely work things out to barely break even? lol

ynnek, just drop it. There is not point in arguing any longer. We have all made our opinions known.

To be honest, I don't carea bout getting any of the other software. All I wanted was a general consensus that the CE owners got ripped off. I can't believe that people couldn't agree that $80 for what we got was a ****ing rip off. That's all I wanted to hear.

But instead I got told "tough ****" blah blah. Yeah, I would agree with you if the CE was $60. But it was $80 and worth less than $30.

Whatever.
