What is WineX?
That's a stupid question. How to get damn thing to work? It's simple. Just download shell script which is attached to this thread then rename GetWineX.txt to GetWineX. Execute it by typing ./GetWineX in the konsole. Script will delete any previous version of wine or winex then install the latest CVS version. The whole process will be done automatically so just sit back and relax ![]() Once you get it installed WineX configurator will try to find your Fart32 paritions and windows directory then save information in /root/.winex/config file. Note .winex means hidden directory so you have enable hidden view from the konqueror file browser. View/Show Hidden Files. If you don't know how to mount Fart32 paritions http://www.experts-exchange.com/Oper...0033107.html#1 OK now try your new toy on some OpenGL game like SoF2 or ST: EliteForce cause they work 100% on every system. D3D API sux so you're gonna have hard time b4 you play D3D games. bye Last edited by borgzilla; 10-19-02 at 10:42 AM. |

Good tutorial, although I install the stuff without Windows partition
![]() If you want to try some other WineX versions: try http://ting.homeunix.org/GetWineXscripts.html Note that you won't be able to mount your NTFS partition by default. You will most likey need to recompile your kernel for that support, because it's still in experimental stage.

Try to build it now. CVS version is changing every day so problem might be in the build that you've downloaded. I did it last night again and I didn't have any problems.
Also make sure that you have complete development tools installed from your mandrake CD and do live update as well. |

Crypt, you are missing a devel package.
glu.h is a header for the OpenGL user library. Most distros provide the mesa implementation of GLU, so you should look for a package named: libMesaGLU1-devel MesaGLU-devel or similar. The first one is the exact name in mandrake. Please join #WineX on irc.openprojects.net for more help. |

When I run the getwinex it goes to step 2 and then hangs.
I think the caption is "Checking CVS... may take a while" or something like that, im in a class right now so i cant really give you the exact So i give it a while... Like a few hours and still the same thing. Whats going on? I plan on trying a some of those other get scripts later when i get a chance. |

Can you use WineX with NT/2000/XP, I heard you couldn't with Wine but what about WineX? BTW here is a site(cached) that has some ways to fix some of the errors you may get. http://216.239.37.100/search?q=cache...hl=en&ie=UTF-8. Also if you have nVidia drivers and you get the glu.h error read that info on the link YOU DON'T NEED MESA
