I'm using debian linux amd64 unstable tree with xorg. when X loads. it gives an "No devices detected" error. I've compiled my own kernel (2.6.13) and the nvidia driver as I always do. in the kernel I've added pci-express as a static part of the kernel. the nvidia module loads with no errors and I make sure with lsmod it's running before X is started. the video card does show up as a 7800 GTX under /proc so the module is working right, but not when X is loading.
any ideas what I can do?

The NVIDIA installer shipped with current NVIDIA driver releases assumes that Linux/x86-64 specific libraries are kept in /usr/lib64, ..., /usr/X11R6/lib64 - a convention followed by most vendors, but not by Debian GNU/Linux. Please see http://www.nvnews.net/vbulletin/show...74&postcount=7 for a replacement `nvidia-installer` binary that works around this problem. |
