I've been trying for lvl 10 as well. I'm totaly addicted to this demo and Im deffinitely going to buy this game

Its soooo freaking fun! I sort of wish they covered more time like empire earth did, but I wont let that hold me back. Whens this coming out anyway?

The reason i HATE empire earth is because of huge amount of time coverage. It really just got to be too much. Age of Empires 2 is still probably one of the best games I've ever played. The time periods are perfect. When i get back from my business trip I'll give this demo a try. I'm sure I will not be disappointed

Lol... That one is nice... I personally just enjoy rolling into the enemy territory and whiping out every building I can find with some heavy cannons.

Yea, that is definitely the nicest way to show off your superiority. I love it. My girlfriend's most dreaded sentence from me is "Ok, I have now assembled my Death Squad.", which means that unless she gets a crapload of soldiers and equipment together, my monstrous squad of cannons is going to come and utterly annihilate her bases.

My strategy is to wall off an entire 3rd of the map (trying to enclose as many resources as possible, especially trees), place outpost towers closest to my main base and train lots and lots of archers and musketeers to defend and shoot through the walls.

I build up my forces and strengthen my army until I have most of my upgrades and enough men to take out their base, then I wait for a massive attack from the enemy. When they attack and I wipe them out, I emediately move in on their bases with my artillery and every last soldier that I have (while training more and doing repairs in case something goes terribly terribly wrong). Since they just swamped me with every soldier they had, I can easily annhililate them without much resistance.

I might try playing on hard some time, but I hope they actually have better defensive strategies rather than just being more aggressive. Their base defenses are terrible, and Ive come to find out that they only thing they really do is amass resources and attack. They dont even upgrade their trade routes or expand very far beyond the general area that they started in. Anyone else notice this?

Yeah... I wall off as much as I possibly can... I quickly move to the trade route area and wall that off completely rather quickly... then I start building outposts along the wall and I get a Fort and Factory up as close as I can to the enemy base.... I get every upgrade you can think of and start rolling out the heavy cannons with the factory.... my fort is just there for an extremely good defense.

Ahh, but if your opponent is me, as you send your forces away to get my main base, my large hidden reserve force would whack your flank unhindered and go in for the kill whilst your main force is halfway across the map!

Good times man. I'm pretty excited to get back into the RTS genre....between my hours long Oblivion sessions, that is
