Default 1.0-7174 for x86-64/em64t and x86 updates

The attached patch addresses an X startup problem on Linux/x86-64 em64t systems with 4GB of RAM (or more, i.e. SWIOTLB configurations) using SuSE Linux 9.3 (e.g. Linux 2.6.5-7.147) and Linux 2.6.8 kernels. To patch 1.0-71714 and install the updated driver, please follow the instructions below.

# sh /path/to/NVIDIA-Linux-x86_64-1.0-7174-pkg2.run --extract-only
# cd NVIDIA-Linux-x86_64-1.0-7174-pkg2
# patch -p0 < /path/to/NVIDIA_kernel-1.0-7174-1258475.diff.txt
# ./nvidia-installer -n

The patch below addresses a module load failure with Linux 2.6.12-rc and more recent Linux kernels; please apply this patch (see the instructions above) if you are using a current Linux 2.6 kernel and the 1.0-7174 NVIDIA kernel module fails to load with this error message:

nvidia: Unknown symbol register_ioctl32_conversion
nvidia: Unknown symbol unregister_ioctl32_conversion

The attached patch addresses a kernel interaction problem on Linux/x86-64 systems that either do not support the no-execute page protection feature or on which this feature has been disabled by the SBIOS. To patch 1.0-7174 and install the updated driver, please follow the instructions below.

# sh /path/to/NVIDIA-Linux-x86_64-1.0-7174-pkg2.run --extract-only
# cd NVIDIA-Linux-x86_64-1.0-7174-pkg2
# patch -p0 < /path/to/NVIDIA_kernel-1.0-7174-1361053.diff.txt
# ./nvidia-installer -n

Please see http://www.nvnews.net/vbulletin/showthread.php?t=57990 for a patch that works around a bug in Linux/x86-64 kernels >= 2.6.11 and < 2.6.14 that can lead to severe stability problems.

The attached patch works around a bug in some Linux kernels' implementation of the change_page_attr() interface function with respect to the handling of large pages and the no-execute page protection feature. This bug can lead to system reboots. To apply the patch, please follow these steps:

# sh /path/to/NVIDIA-Linux-x86_64-1.0-7174-pkg2.run --extract-only
# cd NVIDIA-Linux-x86_64-1.0-7174-pkg2
# patch -p0 < /path/to/NVIDIA_kernel-1.0-7174-1321905.diff.txt
# ./nvidia-installer -n
