Hello, I am unable to get 1920x1200 on a Sun 24" LCD monitor (Model # 365-1423). I am using an Nvidia Quadro FX 1100 in an AMD based Sun Workstation, running RHEL3 U5 and Nvidia driver 1.0-7676.
I have tried the defaults in XF86Config, which obviously didn't work. I have tried customizing values, even using custom Modelines created from the gtf utility, but still no dice. The screen always goes to 1600x1200. The closest I seem to have gotten is with the following Monitor section out of XF86Config: Section "Monitor" Identifier "Monitor0" VendorName "Monitor Vendor" ModelName "custom" HorizSync 60.0 - 75.0 VertRefresh 50.0 - 160.0 Modeline "1920x1200_51.00" 162.38 1920 2040 2248 2576 1200 1201 1204 1236 -HSync +Vsync Option "dpms" EndSection The error given in /var/log/XFree86.0.log is: (II) NVIDIA(0): Not using mode "1920x1200_51.00" (width too large for virtual size) There may be other things in that log that I am missing, so it's attached for your viewing pleasure. What does the "virtual" data in the log mean? Does anyone have any idea how I can get 1920x1200 out of this card/monitor combo? Thanks! |

XXeR,
Please start X with the following command: startx -- -logverbose 5 and then generate and attach an nvidia-bug-report.log. Also, per the NVIDIA README, please disable the dri X module. Thanks, Lonni |

Done. The log is attached. As for the dri setting, sorry about that. I had disabled it on almost every other attempt, but forgot to on that one. It was disabled before I ran this latest test you asked me to run.
Thanks! |

Hi Lonni, it didn't work -- similar to the error I got with my Modeline:
(II) NVIDIA(0): Not using mode "sun1920x1200" (width too large for virtual size) I attached the report again. Any other ideas? Thanks for your help so far! |

XXer,
Your bug report shows that you're not using the "sun1920x1200" modeline in Screen0, but rather a 1920x1200 modeline. Please fix this and try again. Thanks, Lonni |
