Quake 4 on Linux?

Will Quake 4 be Linux compatible? I know Quake3 is native for it. I dont plan on buing Windows Vista, Ill be going Linux. I know there arn't as many games for that platform right now, but things will change the more people switch. Plus there are emulators for Windows games. (Ive been doing some research) But mainly are there any plans for Q4 to go Linux?

annd there hasent been any info on weather or not q4 will be released for linux that i know of.

Yes it dose, however depending on how much they modified the engine and weather they will devote the resources to porting the mods to linux is a big question. Kinda like CoD and linux heh.

Yep...I'm sure Quake 4 will as well. No reason why they wouldn't that I can think of. Like Doom 3 it'll probably be in a patch, however, rather than shipping with the game.

Ya Ive been reading about Wine, but Cedega I guess can play most XP game not all perfectly but good enough. http://www.transgaming.com/ Thing with that is you have to suscribe, but I dont want to do that. If Wine could play CS 1.6 and Q4 would be cool with me. I mainly play CS:S now but Id go with 1.6 if thats what worked, I dont want to give M$ anymore money really. Expecially with what they're doing with OpenGL, companies to me are screwing up major lately.
So thats cool, it will probaly run native in due time (after M$ does its raping of wallets ofcourse).

I plan on getting rid of my windows partition soon, so I hope so. Honestly, I would be very surprised if id didnt make a linux port....

I'm not sure where you heard that, but I don't think it's true. Anandtech didn't some linux vs windows benchmarks a while back and a windows computer with the exact same hardware smoked the linux machine (like 1.7x the performance on Doom3). If he codes for linux then why is it faster on windows?

What video card, what drivers, what AGPGART, what kernel version? Got a link.

Not true about performance, Linux runs Doom3 natively faster than Win32 in just about every case, unless you have some mental-midget running a skewed benchmark. Now if it was on a ATI card, perhaps, because ATI's Linux driver performance is utter poo-poo.

Actually, iD stated that Doom3 has less preformance in linux than windows becuase of lack of sse support. And benchmarks prove it to be completely correct.
