So i decided to install my1800+ a few days ago, dropped it in, booted her up, and i get the one beep and shuytdown. I plug the fan back in and it goes for a little longer but starts contiuously beeping saying there is some kind of memory error, even though it did not touch the memory. I cleared the cmos and tried it again. No dice. I have been in the BWCA the past week so I dont know what to do. anyhelp would be nice. Sorry about the crappy writing skills, but i am really tired.

if the fans not on the sensor, then the motherboard thinks its not plugged in and will refuse to boot. This is to prevent your Athlon from cooking.
As for the memory, likely its either a. incompatible with the motherboard b. seated improperly c. bad If you have any, try testing the setup with different sticks of ram. Perhaps its just a bad stick(s). Edit: Please reiterate the series of events when you built this. From your posts it seems to go like this 1. Athlon in socket 2. Boot without fan, computer beeps. 3. Fan added 4. Computer does not boot with 2 beeps I'm sorry, maybe I misinterpreted this, but if you booted without a fan, perhaps your motherboards built in protection was not enough to save the CPU. I've seen AthlonXP's cook in seconds without a HS/Fan. |

I have a Soyo Dragon Plus, also. In your BIOS, you can disable the fan sensor in the Health Status section, so you will know for sure that isn't the problem (if your fan doesn't support the sensor deal). I don't bother with the Fan Off Control thing anyway.
It could be that you aren't booting because your RAM isn't seated right. Sometimes it takes an adjustment or two. I have two sticks of RAM and I have them in slots 1 and 3, and things work fine. If I were you, I'd try taking out one of the RAM sticks and try booting with just one. Could be a bad stick of RAM screwing things up, too... |

I think I am going to get my ram tested, if thats not it, it is probably my mobo. I really cant think of anything else, other than the power supply might be going flakey. I get back to you guys if i can get it to work. I dont think it is the ram seating, im pushing pretty dang hardß

it could be a hundred things! im always gettin stuff like that... jus play with the seating of EVERYTHTING, pci cards, agp card, ide plugs, ram, and even reset the PSU by jus pullin the power cord out for a few seconds....
could try re setting the bios too... sometimes does the job! ignore the beeps u get, if it dont start, somins wrong, the boards beeps dont normally help much, just make sure all the obvious is working!! try just one ram stick, see wot happens....
