With the Linux driver on a Latitude D800 (nv28 : "GeForce4 Ti 4200 Go"), when I run mplayer (with hardware MPEG accel : "-vo xvmc -vc ffmpeg12mc"), it says, "idct=0" (but it does do "motion compensation").
Whereas when I run it on a Latitude C840 (nv17 : "GeForce 440 Go"), it says, "idct=1" (and "motion compensation"). Is the absense of the IDCT due to the hardware difference between nv17 & nv28 or is it a software issue? |

The geforce4 TI can be seen as a continuation of the Geforce3 with a few extra 3d features and higher clocks. The Geforce4MX is a very different GPU, it can be seen as a highly improved Geforce2MX containing improvements like IDCT support. The Geforce4 TI doesn't contain IDCT. So the difference is in hardware.
