I thought my settings have changed, but no it wasn't I tested and check 3 times, same thing, when I oc my 7800GTX sli to 489/1270 (detected by card) 3dmark05 score drops form 11300 (stock) to 9800's OC. Aquamark gave around 5000 points boost , on 3dmark is acting weird, has anyone had this happened?

I got a same issue. My 7800 SLI factory overclocked @ 490/1300, but when I user rivatuner to overclock them to 510/1360. 3dmark05 score drops form 13000 to 11000.
Rinatuner still shows it was running at 550/1360.

Well after further testing I founf out that 3dmark don't like certain clocks, dunno why? but try increasing litlle at a time and test , you will find that you will get icreases in certain spots, then it will drop if you go higher, and It will go up again at higher clocks. Strange behavior of 3dmark.

How much voltage on CPU you got ? over 1.6 im guessing can't be stock
also noticed you only got 512 megs of ram that should hurt alot in some games.

Nah, it's a strange one.... because the 7800 now has three cores to consider.
Run the monitor in Rivatuner and you can clearly see that three clocks are taken into consideration, two which you can adjust yourself and a geometric one that you have no say over, sometimes if you push the other two to a certain point, the geometric seems to have some strange behaviour. I got a feeling Coolbits might not be the tool needed anymore for these 7800s, I will try and run a few more experiements with different driver sets. Try it for yourself, and check the log option ...run 3dmark2005 for a couple of mins, come out and check the log. Strange strange clock behaviour. |
