Default Network drivers on Gentoo

Allright, ive got gentoo and all that, and i cant get it to load my ethernet for some reason.

On bootup, i recieve error messages as seen below.

Starting eth0
Bringing up eth0
dhcp
eth0 does not exist

Starting eth1
Bringing up eth1
dhcp
eth1 does not exist

I ran the rc-update add net.eth0 default script at install, and followed the instructions for adding to eth1 (obviously...it tries to start them at bootup).....it almost seems like a driver issue to me, but why did the live cd at install figure it out?

When i try and install the drivers, it spits me the error that it cant find the kernel sources. i ran emerge gentoo-sources and its all there. the symlink is /usr/src/linux -> linux-2.6.12-gentoo-r10

how do i point it here? i tried sh NFORCE-Linux-x86_64-1.0-0306-pkg1.run --kernel-sources-path /usr/src/linux and it didnt do anything it wasnt allready doing...I need some help. the sooner the better, ive been working on this one install for the last 48 hours now (not consecutive) and i want it to work before i begin to hate it and go to something else.

If you could check to see if i am on aim (teassumaire) because i am very likely to be working on my install in some way or another. thanks a lot

Jared

Hi,
do you really need the nvidia driver packet? Aren't the network driver in-kernel?

and secondly, did you add the network drivers to modules-autoload.d/kernel-2.6?

it is not a command. Just add the modules to the file kernel-2.6 in /etc/modules-autoload.d/

mines look like this:
uli526x
videodev
bttv card=25
ohci-hcd
ehci-hcd

(I have an ULI board)
