Jack Thompson's at it again!

He's challanging Game Developers to make and sell a game with a scenario he has created... If they do accomplish such a task, he promises to donate $10k to Take-Twos Favorite Charity.

His scenario is basically a game where kids go about killing their parents and other innocent people because of violent games...the game has to put the cause of the violence on the child playing violent games. This man is ****ing insane, I knew he was crazy but jesus christ is he ****ing nuts!

"Target yourselves the way you target everyone else"???? What the hell, he mentions Postal 2 but fails to mention how the game lets you KILL THE MAKERS OF THE f**KING GAME WHEN THEY FIRE YOU!!

This doesnt even make any sense... if someone creates a game like this he will just bitch and complain about the violence anyway even though he's the one who asked for it.

I actually agree that violent and unstable kids could get ideas and possibly even training from violent games (I have learned a lot from them myself) but hes a complete idiot if he thinks that they are the CAUSE of any significant amount of violence. And id put money on it that more people are saved by having games to play (rather than be out acting like psychos in real life) than they are killed... he brings up a few horrible stories throughout 30 years of video game history and to him that justifies censorship of one of the leading forms of art\entertainment in the world. Get your head out of your ass Thompson... you dont know "Jack" (pun intended)

EDIT: Oh and Magus, you severely misquoted him in your post... the game he wants people to make is NOT about killing family members. Its about a kid that kills a boy in a way that is similar to a game, then gets sent to jail and then the father of the boy seeks revenge on the gaming industry for "making" the kid kill his son. He then kills game developers with names similar to real people (isnt this considered a threat?) and then kills their lawyers. Still retarded, but its not what you posted

Perhaps a bunch of decently capable flash artists should make and distribute his game as freeware. It could be displayed in a glorious 16 colours, with 2 bit sound, much like Peasant's Quest, from Homestarrunner.com. Just to spite him.

I had the same idea... someone should make it and sell it to one person and then publicly ask this jackass to donate to a charity. He can either make himself look like a lying jackass or stick to his promise and donate the money.

I've always thought that about everyone's response to Jack. All the "leet" gamers always freak out and yell. And it just goes to prove his point

But what else are we supposed to do, just stay quiet? Allow him to slander literally MILLIONS of people, while sitting idly by?

If anyone ever had something they love slandered like gamers do, they'd react "**** off" as well. We aren't underminding the point at all. We're just proving the same point that he makes whenever he calls us "pissants"- that violence and anger are inherant in human nature

Violent games didn't cause people to get upset and write comics like these- assholes did

I cannot believe this is making the news nowdays. It's obviously a publicity stunt and not a real challenge to developers and the gaming community. If it were, he would offer a reward to the person/group/company who were to develop the thing.
